Varuna
The Varuna Alumni Writers’ Blog is a (cyber)hub for the Alumni community to come together to share ideas and generate discussion. We very much welcome comments, insights, and ideas from the general writing community.
Varuna, the Writers’ House is Australia’s only national writers’ centre, which offers residential time and space for individual writers and illustrators to develop their work and seek pathways to publication and production. Varuna reaches out with quality programs of professional development for new and emerging writers in metropolitan, regional and remote areas across the country.
Each month, a Varuna Alumni writer is invited to be our guest blogger, writing about any aspect they choose of the writing life.
Guest bloggers are members of the Varuna Alumni Association, part of Varuna, the Writer’s House in the Blue Mountains of NSW, Australia.

As for the ‘Creative Life’, because we are supposed to be marketeers as well as authors, I think the hardest thing for me is how to talk about my books without either sounding too deprecating or too full of myself. When I start a story, I always hope it will be wonderful, a masterpiece at the very elast, but when I leave it for a while and then look at it again, reality sets in. How to judge one’s own work? It’s in the ‘too hard’ basket.
