First we must apologise. We’ve been so excited about fruitful conversations, possibilities and the role of the blog that we neglected to explain our intentions and how to join in. Let’s begin again.
We are very excited about the blog because we believe it is a way of replicating the sorts of discussions about literature and craft that occur in Varuna. So far we have posted two topics: one about representations of ‘real’ and another where Peter grappled with the attachments between his writing self and literary works. However, in both cases we forgot to turn to others in the virtual discussion room and ask a straightforward question, one that invited other voices to join in.
The intention of the blog is to stimulate a discussion about ideas, crafting concerns, literary attachments, the places writers write from and why. There is potential for these conversations to become an on-line journal benefiting a wider audience in the future.
We realise that exploring an idea might take a bit more than a few lines. We don’t mind things being a bit longer but we all have to remember that this is a conversation. We need to pause and let others respond. It may be that other aspects of a particular idea can appear later as we toss ideas back and forth. Questions are also invited.
So on that note, here is our next post – let’s talk …
