Renae Gibson was born during a cyclone in 1983 in WA’s Pilbara region, but spent her formative years by the beaches of Perth’s northern suburbs. She has worked for five years as a health promotion officer raising awareness of perinatal depression – a job she loves almost as much as writing.

Highlights of Renae’s fledgling writing career include winning first place in the ‘CYA Later Alligator’ Writing and Illustrating Competition (Young Adult category) in 2009 and being awarded the inaugural Ray Koppe Young Writers Residency (2011).
